AFC PRE ACADEMY PROGRAM (2023 - 2024)

WHY?

Ongoing multi-disciplinary player development is paramount to developing well rounded players comfortable competing in a variety of gameday scenarios. AFC strives to start the development of player talent early in the youth development curve and inline with our mission statement and style of play. AFC Pre Academy is one cornerstone step to achieve this.

WHO?

Currently registered players from Castro Valley (CVSC), Montclair (MSC) & Piedmont (PSC) Soccer Club’ top teams.

(CVSC: Green, MSC: Red, PSC: Purple):

U12 Boys (2012)
U12 Girls (2012)

Where a club has a particularly strong age group, the Director of Coaching, may recommend players from the second team for that age/gender.

WHEN?

There will be two cycles for the program:

Cycle 1 - July 10th 2023 - December 15th 2023
Cycle 2 - January 15th 2024 - May 11th 2024

Try-outs for will be held after club tryouts in May, with a second opportunity for players that do not get offered a place in the program to attend another session in January

Players will be selected based on the ‘AFC Key Player Qualities’, with final decisions made by the Pre-Academy Director

Dates for the tryouts for Cycle 1 will be:

2012 Girls - Wednesday May 17th, 4:30 - 6:00 pm @ Merritt College & Thursday May 18th, 6:30 - 7:45 pm @ Skyline HS
2012 Boys - Wednesday May 17th, 6:30 - 8:00 pm @ Merritt College & Thursday May 18th, 7:45 - 9:00 pm @ Skyline HS

Dates for Cycle 2 - TBD

Accepted players will be provided with the following additional opportunities to put them on the AFC Pathway:

Cycle 1
- Pre-academy camp in the summer (5 days. 2 hours per day)
  - 2012 Boys: June 19 - June 23, 10:45am - 12:45 pm @ Pepsi Fields
  - 2012 Girls: June 19 - June 23, 1:00 - 3:00 pm @ Pepsi Fields
- Weekly practice during fall
  - Once a week training during winter (when their club team is not practicing)
  - 22 sessions
- Three 11v11 Scrimmages vs high level opposition, as well as U13 AFC teams
- Winter tournament
- Quarterly Communication
- AFC Pre-Academy Training Uniform (will also be used for games)
  - 2 x t-shirts
  - 1 x shorts
  - 1 x socks
- All of this will be in addition to the player’s own team training commitments, with their current team
- All sessions will be led by our Pre-Academy Director, Marco Plascencia, along with ‘guest sessions’ from other AFC coaches
Cycle 2
- Weekly practice during Spring
  - Once a week training during Spring (when their club team is not practicing)
  - 16 sessions
- Two 11v11 Scrimmages VS high level opposition, as well as U13 AFC teams
- Winter/Spring tournament
- Quarterly Communication
- AFC Pre-Academy Training Uniform (will also be used for games)
  - 2 x t-shirts
  - 1 x shorts
  - 1 x socks
- All of this will be in addition to the player’s own team training commitments, with their current team
- All sessions will be led by our Pre-Academy Director, Marco Plascencia along with ‘guest sessions’ from other AFC coaches

COSTS?

There will be a separate cost for each of the cycles and players will register for one cycle at a time.

Total cost includes all costs that are involved with the program (coaching, fields, uniform, tournament cost, referees and all administrative costs)
