Directions

The fields are located in Oakland just south of Montclair Village. From Mountain Blvd. turn onto Snake Rd. Approximately 1/4 mile from the turn, Snake makes a hair pin turn. Stay straight onto Shepherd Canyon Rd. The Park is located 1/4 mile on the right. Note that parking is limited on Shepherd Canyon Rd. Parking and Use Instructions

1. Shepherd Canyon Main Lot – This parking lot is near the play structure and bathrooms at the park. Montclair Soccer helped expand this parking lot in 2009; it has room for 44 vehicles. 2. Shepherd Canyon - Escher DriveEscher – Escher Drive is on the right a half mile past Shepherd Canyon Park. From Shepherd Canyon Road, make a right onto Escher (it winds around a bit) for a little less than a mile. The road is wide where Escher ends at Bagshotte Drive, with room for about 15 cars to park on the side of the road on Escher. It’s a 5 minute walk on the trail marked by the yellow gate at the road. Plan on an extra 15 minutes to park and walk down, but this is the most peaceful way for you to enter the park for your child’s game.  3. Shepherd Canyon - SC DriveCity Yard parking lot – Park at the City Yard lot (across from firehouse) on weekends and after 5pm on weekdays. We do not have written authorization to park in the lot, but it has not been an issue in the past. Do not park in front of the gas pumps; the fire department must have access to them on weekends and evenings. Walk across Shepherd Canyon using the clearly marked cross walk. The City of Oakland enhanced this cross walk (pedestrian light/button, etc.) for us. Crossing this busy street outside of the cross-walk is dangerous, and it is illegal. 4. Shepherd Canyon Parking Strip – Small lot parallel to Shepherd Canyon Road. Park here only if the Main Lot is full. Cars can move fast on Shepherd Canyon Road. It is safer for children to load/unload in the Main Lot. With the above options, we have 80+ parking spots; that’s nearly double what’s needed for games at Shepherd Canyon. No Parking on Shepherd Canyon Road – No parking in the gulley. No parking on the road below Shepherd Canyon parking lot. No Dogs – Leash or no leash, dogs are not allowed anywhere at Shepherd Canyon Park. We love dogs, but they are not allowed (not in the car, not in the parking lot, not on the trails, nor walkways, nor sidelines). Pack Out All Trash – Leave the field cleaner than you found it. Trash bins at the park cannot accommodate our 500+ families in our U6-U8 programs. Make sure your team takes home all its trash every game and practice.
